We are asking for your help to provide transportation for those who need it the most. People and families with children who are struggling with financial instability and folks living in rural areas who need transportation help, but have no local family for support. These are the people whose lives you'll be changing when you donate to help us drive toward a better world.
Dial-A-Bus is currently accepting donations to work toward expanding service, especially for our more rural clients. As most of you are aware, we are currently working with Benton County to explore how best to expand service to meet your needs.
This process with the County will take some time, but Dial-A-Bus wants to provide that support to you now.
We never want to turn away someone in need just because they don't qualify for one of our funded services or because their scheduled ride needed to be given to another client in town. Transportation should be accessible to everyone.
As we heard in our first Client Advisory Committee Meeting (which you can watch at this link: https://youtu.be/PZz0RlyHXSs), many of our clients live outside of the Corvallis city limits and therefore have less access to transportation. Not only do they not have a bus stop nearby, but this also means they do not qualify as an "ADA ride" because they do not live within 3/4 of a mile of a bus stop. All ADA riders have priority due to regulations outside of our control. So, even though clients like Ron Mason, who spoke on this topic at the aforementioned meeting, have a disability and qualify for BAT rides, they may get bumped from their appointments by riders who live in town. This is why we are hoping to raise funds to have more drivers available at peak times so that people living outside of city limits can access rides more readily.
